Bio

While going to UC, worked in the first aid department at Kings Island as a student nurse which enhanced abilities to priortize, critically think, & work with the public. Have worked at Miami Valley Hospital for 28 years & primarily on the Inpatient Acute Rehab unit. Began rehab career in 1984 as a clinical nurse. Participated in our first clinical ladder program 1987-1990 as a Primary Nurse 2. Promoted to the Clinical Nurse Educator role in 1990 and responsible for staff development/orientation for nurses & PCTs. Expanded role to the Program Educator in 1996 and responsible for professional development of nurses, PCTs, physical, occupational, recreational, & speech therapists and patient education. Obtained Certification in Rehab Nursing in 1989. Specialized in working with brain injuried patients and obtained Certification as a Brain Injury Specialist in 2008. Involved in a multitude of hospital committees and projects over the years. Was a part of the initial Magnet team in 2002 to explore obtaining Magnet designation. Spearheaded the Magnet Communication/Celebration subcommittee for 2004 designation & 2008 re-designation along with being a part of putting together the Magnet document. Began as Magnet Program Director role January 16, 2012.and very excited to continue our Magnet journey at Miami Valley Hospital.
