Bio

Melanie Mudd is a Central Nurse Educator for the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Nursing Department. An alumni of The Catholic University of America School of Nursing (BSN class of 2010), Ms. Mudd has over a decade of nursing experience, with majority of her practice in the specialty of Pediatric Nursing. In 2017, Ms. Mudd transitioned to her true passion of nursing professional development after receiving her Masters of Science in Health Services Leadership and Management, Education Focus, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing (2015). Ms. Mudd holds special interest in onboarding and orientation practices: in addition to serving as the Coordinator for the Clinical Research Nursing Residency Program, Ms. Mudd co-coordinates the NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department Orientation program, working with service-based educators and unit-based clinical educators on the development and implementation of a standardized orientation offering for all direct-care clinical staff. Ms. Mudd proudly holds certification as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPD-BC), and strives to create relevant and engaging programs that will further the professional development of NIH clinical research nursing staff.
